A Fearless Communion with Our Natural World

Could a fierce and passionate love for our natural world save us from climate change? What Joanna Macy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the poet Rainer Maria Rilke say about the environment and God.

Rev. Kate Landis lives in the Seattle suburbs with her goofy dog, Wally, … read more.

Resiliency as Resistance

“And I’ll give you hope, when hope is hard to find. And I’ll bring a song of love, and a rose in the winter time.”

I find myself humming this beloved hymn a lot these days. What could self-care and community care look like as a form of resistance?

Love Makes Us Strong

Our whole church worship will focus on how love makes us more resilient and able to offer our love to the world. We’ll sing, write love letters, create a few tokens for the world. Bring the whole family and your whole selves for a great morning together!

Ansamblu will provide music for this worship service.

Parents As Religious Educators
Sanctuary, Social Hall, Nursery, Tacoma WA

Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration for Children and Youth leads, “Parents as Religious Educators”, an informal, drop-in discussion group for any parents (or anyone in a parenting role with children) who want to explore what it means to be the primary religious educator in your child’s life. While the church provides a focused opportunity for your child to explore religion and faith, the reality is that our children are learning about these things day in and day out. Parents and other adults who spend time with kids are in a position to educate and model but sometimes do so without giving it much attention. This group will provide an opportunity to accept this role with thoughtfulness and intention. Topics for discussion will be generated by the group, but may include developmental stages of faith formation, developing  your in-home “curriculum,” how to answer the “tough” questions, rituals and celebrations, etc.

Childcare and lunch will be provided.
