The Board of Trustees of the Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation (TUUC) calls for a special meeting of the congregation to be held at noon on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in the sanctuary of the church building at 1115 South 56th Street in Tacoma, Washington. The sole purpose of this meeting is to consider calling the Reverend Dr. Linda A. Hart to serve as the settled minister at TUUC.

Linda is currently serving as a non-called minister at TUUC. She was hired by the board in 2014 to serve a three-year developmental ministry with our congregation.

Following guidance provided by the Pacific Northwest District of the Unitarian Universalist Association, our congregation convened a Call Process Task Force that facilitated congregational conversations about our vision for the congregation and Linda’s ministry with us.

Article XV, Section 2 of TUUC’s bylaws describes approaches for engaging a called minister. A non-called minister may be invited to candidate as a called minister [see Article XV, Section 2(B)]. At a special meeting, the congregation will vote on whether the candidate presented to the congregation should be called to serve as the church’s settled minister [see Article XV, Section 2(A)(3)].

Members eligible to vote at the March 5, 2017 special congregational meeting will be those (1) whose membership began on or prior to February 3, 2017, and (2) who have made a pledge of record and an identifiable financial contribution to TUUC this fiscal year (which began July 1, 2016), or whose responsibility to make such a contribution has been waived for this fiscal year.
