Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation (“Tahoma UU,” “TUUC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of members, friends, visitors, and others who interact with our congregation and our website, TahomaUU.com.

Our Unitarian Universalist values call us to honor the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We believe respecting personal privacy is an important part of living those values.

This Privacy Policy explains the information that may be collected when you visit or interact with TahomaUU.com, how that information may be used, and the third-party services with which you may interact through our website.

Information You Provide to Tahoma UU

Most of TahomaUU.com may be viewed without providing personal information.

You may voluntarily provide personal information to Tahoma UU when you:

• Contact our minister, administrator, staff, or other congregational representatives by email;
• Request to receive our weekly ENews or other congregational communications;
• Request information about membership, Religious Exploration, programs, volunteer opportunities, events, or other congregational activities;
• Make a pledge, donation, or payment through a service linked from our website; or
• Otherwise communicate with the congregation.

Depending upon the interaction, information you provide may include your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, donation or pledge information, and any other information you choose to provide.

Email and ENews

Tahoma UU distributes its electronic newsletter, ENews, using Aplos.

Visitors who wish to subscribe currently request a subscription by emailing the Tahoma UU Administrator. Your name and email address may then be maintained in Aplos and/or TUUC’s congregational records for the purpose of distributing ENews and other requested congregational communications.

Aplos is a third-party service and handles information according to its own privacy and security practices.

Tahoma UU previously used Mailchimp for its electronic newsletter. Archived newsletters distributed through Mailchimp may remain accessible through links on TahomaUU.com.

You may ask to be removed from nonessential congregational email communications at any time by following any unsubscribe instructions provided in the communication or by contacting the Tahoma UU Administrator.

Donations, Pledges, and Payments

TahomaUU.com may provide links to third-party services for donations, pledges, registrations, or other payments.

When a transaction is processed by a third-party payment provider, payment information such as your credit or debit card number or bank account information is submitted to and processed by that provider rather than directly by TahomaUU.com.

Tahoma UU may receive and retain information necessary for congregational and financial records, such as your name, contact information, donation amount, date of donation, fund or purpose, and transaction information.

Financial institutions and payment providers have their own privacy and security practices. We encourage you to review those policies before submitting financial information.

Tahoma UU does not sell or rent personal information.

Zoom

Tahoma UU uses Zoom for online participation in worship services and may use it for meetings or other congregational activities.

When you follow a Zoom link or participate in a Zoom meeting, Zoom may collect information such as your display name, IP address, device information, and information related to your participation.

Information submitted directly to Zoom is subject to Zoom’s privacy practices.

Participants should be aware that their chosen display name may be visible to other meeting participants.

Facebook and Social Media

TahomaUU.com provides links to Tahoma UU’s presence on Facebook and may provide links to other social media services.

If you follow these links or interact with content provided by a social media platform, that platform may collect information about your visit and interaction according to its own privacy policy.

Tahoma UU does not control how third-party social media platforms collect or use information.

Photographs, Video, Worship Recordings, and Livestreaming

Tahoma UU may photograph or record worship services, congregational events, and other activities. Some worship services or events may be livestreamed or recordings may subsequently be made available through TahomaUU.com, YouTube, Facebook, or other congregational communication channels.

We strive to use photographs and recordings respectfully and in accordance with congregational policies.

Children and Youth

Tahoma UU takes additional precautions concerning children and youth.

In accordance with TUUC’s Children & Youth Safety Policy:

• Children’s and youths’ names and photographs will not be used in promotional materials without written consent from a parent or guardian; and
• Photographs posted on the TUUC website or Facebook page will not associate individual children’s or youths’ names with those photographs.

Information collected in connection with Religious Exploration programs, including information such as allergies and emergency information, is handled according to TUUC’s Children & Youth Safety Policy and related congregational procedures.

How We Use Information

Information provided to or collected by Tahoma UU may be used to:

• Respond to inquiries and requests;
• Communicate about worship services, programs, events, and congregational activities;
• Distribute ENews and other requested communications;
• Manage membership and congregational participation;
• Coordinate volunteers and programs;
• Administer pledges and donations;
• Maintain financial and administrative records;
• Operate, maintain, secure, and improve TahomaUU.com;
• Meet legal, accounting, insurance, and administrative requirements; and
• Carry out the mission and activities of Tahoma UU.

Congregational Records

This Privacy Policy primarily describes information associated with TahomaUU.com and online services linked from the website.

Tahoma UU also maintains administrative and congregational records concerning members, friends, donors, volunteers, Religious Exploration participants, employees, and others involved with the congregation.

Those records may be subject to separate congregational policies, including TUUC’s Records Retention Policy, Children & Youth Safety Policy, financial procedures, and other administrative practices.
