A knitting, crocheting, and crafting group meets on the Second and Fourth Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Bring your current project and have some company while you work. 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm 		Last Friday Sandwich Making
Social Hall and Kitchen, Tacoma WA

Sandwich making at the church begins at 5:30 p.m. Participants often donate sandwich makings and fruit. After sandwich assembly, some of the group distribute the sandwiches and fruit at the Rescue Mission from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Our partners with this project are the West End Kiwanis, Temple Beth El, and Wilson High School Key Club.

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm 		Pitch Your Program Proposal for the SpiritUUality Cafe

What’s a “SpiritUUality Café”? Who knows? We’re creating it! Started with the two First Friday Film Forums in the spring, led by Doug Taylor and Susie Maharry. Then 14 folks met on June 29th to discuss expansion beyond just films. To be continued: First Fridays and the core format of conscious conversations about featured presentations.

The new “SpiritUUality Café” name highlights three new focuses.

  • First: overall theme of spirituality from a UU perspective.
  • Second: work with the world café model for fostering meaningful conversations.
  • Third: creatively expand the menu of featured presentations—still including movies but also maybe books, online videos such as TED Talks, art work, poetry, music—even the spirituality of sharing food.
On the last Friday, July 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, we’ll be brainstorming more ideas in cluster groups, pitching specific event ideas to the whole group, and then compiling our 2018-19 calendar for ten events on first Fridays from September 2018 through June 2019. We’ll launch the programs on Friday, September 7th.Prediction: even many of the proposals that don’t make the cut will be intriguing. Please join us for the conversations.
