Exploring Truth, Privilege, and the Courage to Resist with Love

In this sermon, Lauren explores white privilege, colonial capitalism, and the moral urgency to resist with Love, Compassion and Honesty. Through personal stories, Indigenous wisdom, prophetic voices, and spiritual reflection, she calls the congregation toward deeper awareness, solidarity, and shared commitment to justice grounded in love.

Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?

In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

Apple Smash with Infinite CUUPS

Apple Smash!
Sunday, September 26, 2021, 1:00 p.m.

Infinite CUUPS is hosting its first annual Apple Smash! We will be gathering at the church parking lot on Sunday, September 26 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Mabon and other harvest festivals. What’s an Apple Smash, you ask? It’s a community ritual, like a pumpkin toss, where you can offer up an apple inscribed with a word of your choosing describing something you wish to let go of. We make these offerings to the gods while blowing off steam in the presence of community by literally SMASHING an APPLE! (Don’t worry, the apple remnants unclaimed by the attending deities will be collected and returned to the earth responsibly.) Implements of destruction, a hand wash station, and hand sanitizer will be provided. Fiscal love offerings to support Infinite CUUPS and TUUC are welcome, in person or online at https://www.tahomauu.com/connection/visiting-us/donate/. You may also bring some commercially-prepared food or beverages that are individually packaged to share with the community during “cakes and ale” at the end.

In the spirit of the harvest and community we will also be collecting food donations for a local food bank at this event. Bring donations of canned goods or cash for the local food bank to share your harvest with our food-insecure neighbors.

To participate in the Apple Smash, bring an apple or two and wear clothes you’re willing to get applesauce on as well as eye protection — It is gonna get messy! Please wear a face mask and be prepared to follow appropriate social distancing at this outdoor event. Do not come if you have been exposed to COVID or are feeling sick.
