Our TUUC Freethinking Mystics group meets via Zoom on the Second and Fourth Wednesdays using Season 2 of the CAC.org “Learning How to See” podcasts about biases as our reference resource. On Wednesday, October 13 we will use Season 2, Session 3, Mountain Climbers as our reference resource.

On this episode of Learning How to See, Brian, Gigi, Mike and Paul talk about the next two biases that look at the social-political dimensions of seeing:

    1. Consciousness bias: A person’s level of consciousness makes seeing some things possible and others impossible. Our brains see from a location.
    2. Competency bias: We are incompetent at knowing how incompetent or competent we are, so we may see less or more than we think. Our brains prefer to think of ourselves as above average.

As always, please feel free to share, invite and bring kindred spirits!  And please remember that it is not required to read/listen to the materials or answer any questions about the topic beforehand. The power is in Your presence, just as you are, which contributes to the energy and richness of the group!

“We are members and friends of Unitarian Universalism walking the path of spiritual experience and growth as it unfolds in our lives. We come to this safe, caring, authentic, compassionate group for inspiration, to study, to explore, and discover our direct experience of the fullness and mystery of life.”
