Living Music – From “John Brown’s Body” to “Solidarity Forever”

Today’s service explores the evolution of a song. How did a camp meeting hymn from the early 1800s become “John Brown’s Body,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and then “Solidarity Forever?” This is a story of Living Music; of abolition, war, a Unitarian feminist, unions, and how meanings and movements shift over time.
