99 Stockings Holiday Collection Drive

99 Stockings Holiday Collection Drive

a.k.a. 99 Stockings plus 200 Holiday Gift Bags!

Help bring some holiday cheer to housing insecure members of our community! The Social Justice Committee is coordinating collections from TUUC for the 99 Stockings project. This project is co-sponsored by New Connections Tacoma & St. Leo’s Homelessness Workgroup.

The 99 Stockings project creates a little holiday cheer for our neighbors at Tacoma’s Stability Site, the Beacon Young Adult Shelter, Guadalupe House, and other nearby shelters and campsites.

New emergency shelter beds, safe parking sites, and camping communities have been established this year, so we’ll work with others to provide as many stockings and bags as we can. Our goal this year is 99 stockings and 200 gift bags.

TUUC is focusing on collecting gloves (waterproof, sizes M or L), disposable hand warmers and $10 gift cards (from either Starbucks or McDonald’s – preferred due to their multiple locations). The deadline for donating items is Friday, December 17.

Here’s how you can contribute:

1) Purchase items from Amazon at TUUC 99 Stockings Wish List. These items will be shipped directly to a central location, so you can do your purchasing from the convenience of your home.

2) Purchase items from the vendor of your choice – arrange delivery by emailing the Social Justice Committee at SJCTahomaUU@gmail.com or contact Laura Gardner. Visit the Amazon Wish List link to see examples of requested gloves and disposable hand warmers. You may drop off items for donation to the church on Sunday, December 5 or Sunday, December 12 at 12:00 noon. Those attending in person may drop off items when attending worship service on those days — see worship service details for limited attendance registration information.

3) Donate money for the project at the New Connections website https://nctacoma.org/
