Join TUUC Adult Spiritual Explorers for a unique experiential “Introduction toForest Bathing” at Point Defiance Park! Forest bathing (or shinrin-yoku) has been popular in Japan for decades and is gaining momentum in the US. The practice invites you to fully experience the peaceful, healing, restorative beauty of nature with all of your senses attuned to the present moment. Multiple scientific studies have shown that it lowers stress and blood pressure levels, while increasing immune system functioning, making you more resilient to diseases and illness.
With caring, gentle guidance, and invitation, you will have the opportunity to meditate, walk slowly, pause, contemplate and reflect, and share your experience of mindfully enjoying the Japanese Garden.
Come experience nature in full awe, wonder, and beauty from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, which gives us plenty of time to get to TUUC for Sunday, July 21 worship service on “Growing Into Harmony.” We will meet at the Japanese Garden Pagoda beginning at 7:45 a.m. and begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and snacks/drinks if they wish.
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”
