RESCHEDULED to January 26 - UU Freethinking Mystics
High School Youth Room, Tacoma WA This month’s UU Freethinking Mystics is rescheduled to Sunday, January 26, weather permitting, due to driving conditions across Snoqualmie Pass, and because our facilitator, Doug Taylor, is on the other side of the pass. We are members and friends of Unitarian Universalism walking the path of spiritual experience and growth as it unfolds in our lives. We come to this group for inspiration, to study, and to explore our direct experience of the fullness and mystery of life. We meet monthly on the second Sunday from 9:00—10:15 a.m. Facilitated by Doug Taylor. |

Parents As Religious Educators
Social Hall, Nursery, OWL Classroom, Tacoma WA Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration for Children and Youth leads, “Parents as Religious Educators”, an informal, drop-in discussion group for any parents (or anyone in a parenting role with children) who want to explore what it means to be the primary religious educator in your child’s life. While the church provides a focused opportunity for your child to explore religion and faith, the reality is that our children are learning about these things day in and day out. Parents and other adults who spend time with kids are in a position to educate and model but sometimes do so without giving it much attention. This group will provide an opportunity to accept this role with thoughtfulness and intention. Topics for discussion will be generated by the group, but may include developmental stages of faith formation, developing your in-home “curriculum,” how to answer the “tough” questions, rituals and celebrations, etc. We will meet monthly after services from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Dates are:
Childcare and lunch will be provided.

UU the Vote - Launch, Watch, and Planning Party
Sanctuary, Tacoma WA Join UUs from around the country for the launch of #UUtheVote – the Unitarian Universalist Association national effort to encourage electoral involvement in this important election year. The UUA National UUtheVote Team will be hosting a nation-wide Zoom (video conference) call and are asking people to watch in groups at their congregation. Our 5th Principle is “The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.” Participating in our democracy is not only about our fifth principle. As UUs, our deepest beliefs are a life-giving, life-saving, life-sustaining alternative to the narratives and policies of domination, supremacy, exceptionalism, and exploitation that are on the rise.
