This sermon explores holy disruption, sacred resistance, and the courage to stand on the side of love when justice demands action. Living Music – From “John Brown’s Body” to “Solidarity Forever”Today’s service explores the evolution of a song. How did a camp meeting hymn from the early 1800s become “John Brown’s Body,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and then “Solidarity Forever?” This is a story of Living Music; of abolition, war, a Unitarian feminist, unions, and how meanings and movements shift over time. Kids' Chapel on Zoom
Join Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration for Children and Youth for a “Kids’ Chapel” via Zoom on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. This program is geared for elementary school-aged children and will provide a little time to connect and share with each other. We still have a Time for All Ages during our online worship service which starts at 10:30 a.m., and encourage children to participate in the worship service through that point. If you are a parent of a child or children in our Religious Exploration program and have not received the login information, please email Nancy at dir.re@tahomauu.com and she will send you the info. |

UU the Vote with Vote Forward Letter Writing Campaign on Zoom
Register in advance for this meeting: The TUUC Social Justice Committee invites you to join Vote Forward’s Letter Writing Campaign. Use your enthusiasm and make a difference from home in this year’s general election! Over the past month, TUUC members have written over 400 letters to infrequent and under-represented voters in “Super States” including Texas, Arizona, Florida, and Pennsylvania. The letters will be mailed in October on the “Big Send” date to encourage voter participation. Why do you vote? Here’s a few “why I vote” statements from TUUC letter-writers: I vote in every election because… “it is the foundation of our democracy. While for each of us our single voice may feel small, together our voices are strong and work towards a more representative government. Just like two minds are better than one, it takes everybody’s perspective to find the best approaches to today’s governing challenges.” I vote in every election because… “our power in politics begins with our vote. I want my voice, and yours, to be heard.” I vote in every election because… “my vote is my voice; my say in how my country, my state, and my city are run. Adding your voice will make a big difference. Together, our voices are loud and strong.” You can sign up and participate at https://votefwd.org/uu. Questions?
