Pride and Pandemic

What is pride without Pride? While most years we turn outward and celebrate Pride with our community, this year we are invited to turn inward and reflect on what it means to be proud of who we are and to celebrate everyone in our community. People in the LGBTQ+ community make the courageous choice to embrace who they are, in spite of stigma and discrimination. Pride is a time to celebrate the strength to embrace your true self and celebrate each one of our diverse and beautiful selves.

An Intro to Widening the Circle

We will reflect on some of the gathered information that was presented at UUA General Assembly, and focus the bulk of our time introducing the report of the UUA Commission on Institutional Change. This culmination of 3 years of work is a tone and culture-shifting document — driven to ask us to look forward.

No Justice, No Peace

The past few weeks have laid bare again the racial divides in this country. UU minister Karen Hutt preached a powerful sermon in Minneapolis on May 31. In service of lifting up Black voices, we’ll hear her sermon as the center of our worship.

“Challenging Conversations” message shared by Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration during the Sunday, June 14, 2020 “No Justice, No Peace” worship service.

You can also watch the recorded message by Rev. Karen Hutt of First Universalist Church of Minneapolis that was shared as part of our worship service.

Talking to Grief

As our time of isolation continues, we probably will experience grief: from the loss of face to face community, people we love who are dying, fractured relationships, all of it. We need a place to hold our grief. This service will offer some perspective and a brief ritual for acknowledging our losses.

Thresholds – Online Worship Service

Late spring is always a time for changes. People who are in school change grades or graduate. We begin to transition to summer pursuits It’s a time to pause and recognize changes that have happened. This service will recognize our graduating high school seniors and celebrate our new members who have joined this year. We’ll offer a blessing to recently born Ira Gene Arnold. Matt Aspin, newly graduated, will stop in for a visit, too.

Online Worship Service Postponed for Sunday, May 17 – Blessing of the Animals

Due to a global outage of Zoom, this worship service is postponed until Sunday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. See more details at this link.

Our companion animals are an important part of our families. They bring us love and company, perspective, and joy and laughter. (Laughing *with* them, that is.) We’ll celebrate our shared love in this service of blessing. Send a picture of your animal(s) along with their name(s) to Rev. Linda (minister@tahomauu.com) so we can all see them as we offer blessings.
