Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

THEY'RE BAAAAACK . . . The Tahoma UU Congregation Middle Schoolers, that is. They'll present the annual Haunted Hallway following worship service on Sunday Oct. 29th. Just follow the shrieks of terror to the dungeon -- er, basement -- where our professional scarers will lie in wait. With candy! This is a fun TUUC all-ages tradition so we hope to see you there.

Join us for 30 minutes of sitting or walking meditation in the sanctuary. Each week we have a topic for discussion related to meditating as a way to expand our knowledge and connect with one another. This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

Indivisible Tacoma presents an opportunity to learn about and discuss existing grassroots efforts right here on the home front in Washington state: Come learn new ways to take action against the Trump agenda with Washington Community Action Network!, the state’s largest grassroots community organization with over 40,000 members.
Chris Genese, Associate Director of Washington CAN! will speak on the organization’s work on healthcare in Washington state, how it impacts resistance to the Trump agenda, and how to take action yourself.
Washington CAN! is focused on creating and maintaining a large, strong and diverse statewide community presence of grassroots leaders, community members, friends and allies to fight for justice and improvement. Learn about and discuss the work being done in the community, ask questions and find out if you're interested in it, and learn the many ways to support the projects that matter to you.

Come together with curious intellects and attentive hearts to connect, meditate, explore, and discuss the journey of awakening, followed by a time for tea and snacks.
NonDual, Mystical, and Unitive Conscious experiences are all rooted in direct, personal, embodied knowing beyond words, beliefs, doctrines, and rigid traditions whether spontaneous or invoked. In this safe, co-created inter-spiritual group we will explore, experience direct practice, and share our “seeing, knowing and being” of essential essence common to all humanity that transcends divisive concepts and dualisms.
All members are welcome and encouraged to provide ideas and suggestions to enhance each and every participant’s group experience and well-being.

Last Tuesday Dinner Group
Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, 5:30pm
El Toro (Next to Trader Joes), 3820 Bridgeport Way W, University Place, WA
This month we’ll meet at El Toro Mexican Restaurant in University Place. Take note that there are three El Toro restaurants in the area, and this particular El Toro branch is within a shopping center between Trader Joes and Safeway on the corner of Bridgeport and 40th St West. El Toro has something for everyone. We’ll begin at 5:30 with appetizers while people arrive. Everyone orders off the menu on individual checks—we keep it simple.
Each month, these gatherings are a wonderful way to meet fellow members of the congregation or learn more about old friends. Reservations are not necessary, but may help us reserve enough tables. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations. Coordinators: Margo Marsh, and Pat and Neil Glenesk.
