Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

THEY’RE BAAAAACK . . . The Tahoma UU Congregation Middle Schoolers, that is. They’ll present the annual Haunted Hallway following worship service on Sunday, October 28. Just follow the shrieks of terror to the dungeon — er, basement — where our professional scarers will lie in wait. With candy! This is a fun TUUC all-ages tradition so we hope to see you there.

Join us for 30 minutes of sitting or walking meditation in the sanctuary. Each week we have a topic for discussion related to meditating as a way to expand our knowledge and connect with one another. This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

Last Tuesday Dinner Group at Boathouse 19
9001 S 19th St., Tacoma WA
Join us at Boathouse 19 for the “’Last Tuesday Dinner Group” on Tuesday, October 30. Boathouse 19 is at the far west end of South 19th Street. At that far end you cross the railroad line, and turn right through a parking lot, going to the far side of the Narrows Brewery. Each of these monthly dining experiences has been a very relaxing and enjoyable way to meet fellow members of the congregation. Join us for dinner and generous conversation, arriving around 5:30 p.m. Everyone independently orders from the menu and has a separate check. The restaurant’s website includes the dinner menu, and can be viewed at: http://boathouse19restaurant.com/

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

Join with other members and friends of the congregation for a meal the day after the election. Bring a delish dish from home, if you have the time and energy, or just stop at the store and pick something up. It could be chips and salsa, a packaged salad, or some kind of pie. Whatever looks good. We'll eat what's there (and a few of us are bringing some planned dishes), and process what happened the day before.
Everyone, including children, is welcome to come along and have a meal!
Hosted by the Young Adult Group

Following worship services on second Sundays, join a Chalice Circle open to anyone who would like to attend. The group will begin with any thoughts/reflections/comments about the morning service as a way to get centered, and then focus on the month's Chalice Circle theme and sharing. Doug Taylor facilitates this monthly open Chalice Circle.

Peter Altmann, will be our guest speaker at our next Third Friday Potluck on Friday, November 16 at noon in the social hall. Peter Altmann will talk about his mother, Maria, and her legal fight to get artwork returned that was stolen from her family in Austria by the Nazis during WWII. The beautiful portrait of her aunt titled "Woman in Gold" painted by Gustav Klimt was the focus of this effort and was featured in the movie of the same name.
Bring a dish or dessert to share and enjoy learning about this fascinating true story.
