Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

Join us for 30 minutes of sitting or walking meditation in the sanctuary. Each week we have a topic for discussion related to meditating as a way to expand our knowledge and connect with one another. This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

This month we’ll meet at Gateway to India, a restaurant along 6th Avenue in Tacoma, at the corner of 6th Avenue & N. Fife Street. The restaurant specializes in serving authentic North Indian cuisine. Everyone orders off the menu on individual checks—we keep it simple.
Each month, these gathering are a wonderful way to meet fellow members of the congregation or learn more about old friends. Reservations are not necessary, but may help us reserve enough tables. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations. Coordinators: Margot Marsh, and Pat and Neil Glenesk.

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

Calling all UU "Homeschoolers" to an organizing meeting to form a "homeschooling" group on Sunday, March 4th after service (noon). We are looking to create intentional community among home-based learning families while deepening our experience of our Unitarian Universalist faith. All "homeschooling" approaches and children of all ages are welcome. The primary focus of activity will be during day-time on week days. At the meeting we will discuss the "what" - park days, co-learning, social justice activities, community service, etc. - and "when." Let's share the challenges and joys of our home learning journeys. Child care will be available. Meet downstairs in the middle school room (second hallway). Please contact Christine Chansley with any questions or if you are interested in the group but will not be able to attend this first meeting.

These potluck dining experiences are held several times a year in volunteer host homes. Our next one is Saturday, February 10th, and we especially need Hosts! Our Get Acquainted Dinners are usually for 6 or 8, held on the same evening at various member’s homes. The host provides a main dish and coordinates side dishes, salads, or desserts provided by the guests. Fran McLaughlin will take in-person signups Sunday after worship service on Sunday, January 28th and on Sunday, February 4th. Once the lists of guests and hosts are coordinated, the hosts will contact you with details.

Come together with curious intellects and attentive hearts to connect, meditate, explore, and discuss the journey of awakening, followed by a time for tea and snacks.
NonDual, Mystical, and Unitive Conscious experiences are all rooted in direct, personal, embodied knowing beyond words, beliefs, doctrines, and rigid traditions whether spontaneous or invoked. In this safe, co-created inter-spiritual group we will explore, experience direct practice, and share our “seeing, knowing and being” of essential essence common to all humanity that transcends divisive concepts and dualisms.
All members are welcome and encouraged to provide ideas and suggestions to enhance each and every participant’s group experience and well-being.

Sandwich making at the church begins at 5:30 p.m. Participants often donate sandwich makings and fruit. After sandwich assembly, some of the group distribute the sandwiches and fruit at the Rescue Mission from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Our partners with this project are the West End Kiwanis, Temple Beth El, and Wilson High School Key Club.
