Abundant and Generous: Agape Love – Online Worship Service

The Greeks had multiple words for love. In this service we’ll think about Agape, which is considered the highest form of love, and is sometimes called “Charity”. This is love as an action, the sort of unconditional, selfless love that builds community, sustains revolutions, and changes the world. As we kick off the annual Stewardship campaign, let us gather together to share in communal joy as we consider the power in allowing ourselves to be abundantly and generously overwhelmed by love.

We will be joined for this service by Rev. Jessica Star Rockers of Kitsap UU Fellowship and Rev. Zacharie Vinczen of Cedars UU Church. Both of those congregations will join us online. This is a great opportunity for us to join our communities together to reflect upon love and our wider community.

Please join us via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/581391656.

Pluck of the Irish

As we celebrate all things Irish in the month of March, join us to explore the traditions of early Irish faith practices.

This service will be the first of three sermons by Erien in collaboration with congregants who “won” our FUNdraiser silent auction opportunity to work on a sermon topic with our Ministerial Intern. Luck of the Irish? Join us to learn more!

The Wisdom to Know the Difference

This phrase is part of the Serenity Prayer written by Reinhold Niebuhr, a conservative theologian from the mid-20th century. Niebuhr was a balance to the optimism in liberal theology back then, worried about how human beings can be led astray. His reflections may be helpful for us in these difficult times. What wisdom do we need?

Brittany Henderson will provide music for this worship service. Brittany recently played the lead role of Laura in “Beehive” at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and has appeared in several other local productions. She has a BA in Theatre Arts from University of Puget Sound, and is Dean of Student Affairs at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

The Speed of Trust

An old hymn suggests that our freedom should “revere the past, but trust the dawning future more.” adrienne maree brown explores strategies for life in a complicated and rapidly changing world by paying attention to what is emerging. Trust, presence, and attention are key.

The TUU Sees will provide music during this worship service.

Love Makes Us Strong

Our whole church worship will focus on how love makes us more resilient and able to offer our love to the world. We’ll sing, write love letters, create a few tokens for the world. Bring the whole family and your whole selves for a great morning together!

Ansamblu will provide music for this worship service.

Resiliency as Resistance

“And I’ll give you hope, when hope is hard to find. And I’ll bring a song of love, and a rose in the winter time.”

I find myself humming this beloved hymn a lot these days. What could self-care and community care look like as a form of resistance?

What is Truth?

Much is said these days about the loss of a common shared reality in the US and elsewhere around the world. How do we discern the truth in these complicated times?
