Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

The Mindfulness Movie is a powerful and educational journey showcasing the worldwide brain research proving the benefits of mindfulness and the public’s increasing awareness and acceptance of the practice. Dramatic stories shed light on the military’s use of mindfulness, as well as how a group of special teens have benefitted.
Paul Harrison’s forward thinking documentary follows the remarkable story of the secular role of mindfulness in our society and how the world leading experts—from amazingly diverse fields— understand the practice. The Mindfulness Movie tells the heartfelt stories of military personnel and teenagers using mindfulness to overcome stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. These real life examples of personal initiative and success truly inspire the viewer to engage the world in a new way. Courtesy of The Mindfulness Movie Program – www.themindfulnessmovie.com
Facilitated discussion to follow film. Hosted and sponsored by Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation to encourage health, harmony, wellbeing, and interfaith connections.

Come together with curious intellects and attentive hearts to connect, meditate, explore, and discuss the journey of awakening, followed by a time for tea and snacks.
NonDual, Mystical, and Unitive Conscious experiences are all rooted in direct, personal, embodied knowing beyond words, beliefs, doctrines, and rigid traditions whether spontaneous or invoked. In this safe, co-created inter-spiritual group we will explore, experience direct practice, and share our “seeing, knowing and being” of essential essence common to all humanity that transcends divisive concepts and dualisms.
All members are welcome and encouraged to provide ideas and suggestions to enhance each and every participant’s group experience and well-being.

"Stories of Hope, Courage, Resistance, and Resilience" will be the theme of our Regional Assembly, which will be held April 27-29, 2018, at the Double Tree Hotel in Portland, Oregon.
Key Speakers:
Our keynote speaker on Saturday, April 28, will be Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. Jayapal is the first Indian-American woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress. Before being elected to represent Washington State's 7th District in 2016, Congresswoman Jayapal was an immigration and labor activist in Seattle. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times and The Nation. She has been written about in Mother Jones as well as many other publications.
The speaker at our worship service on Sunday, April 29, will be the Rev. Dr. William Barber. As an NAACP leader and civil rights activist in North Carolina, Barber led the "Moral Mondays" protests in that state beginning in 2013. The founder of Repairers of the Breach, an organization formed to train religious leaders across the country in social justice work, Barber is currently leading a new "Poor People's Campaign." His most recent book is The Third Reconstruction: Moral Mondays, Fusion Politics, and the Rise of a New Justice Movement.
In addition, the Rev. Susan Frederick Gray, the newly elected president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, will speak to us to share her emerging vision for the future of the UUA and our wider movement.
