Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

We will begin signing folks up for our annual Chalice Circle program soon. Our Chalice Circles meet once per month for 8 months from October 2018 through May 2019. We will be asking for a serious commitment of attendance for all the sessions. Undecided? No problem! We are hosting a “Sample Circle” using our Soul Matters September theme of the month which is “Vision”.
Please join us after worship service on either Sunday, August 26th or Sunday, September 2nd in the High School Classroom where one of our facilitators will be hosting a sample Chalice Circle, so you can see what they are like to decide if you want to sign up to be in a circle this year. Please contact Susie Maharry for more information at Dir.ARE@tahomauu.com.

Join us for 30 minutes of sitting or walking meditation in the sanctuary. Each week we have a topic for discussion related to meditating as a way to expand our knowledge and connect with one another. This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

Join us at the Rhein Haus for the Last Tuesday Dinner Group on Tuesday, September 25th. This is traditional German fare in Tacoma’s Stadium District. The restaurant boasts a restored historic space, featuring inspired décor sourced from around the world, four indoor bocce ball courts, and floor-to-ceiling windows across the street from the west end of Wright Park. This is our 15th consecutive monthly gathering, and each has been a relaxing and enjoyable way to meet fellow members of the congregation. We have had as many as 24 attendees, preferring to sit at neighboring tables of 6 or 8 (perhaps a table of 4), thus encouraging easy conversation and a variety of dining companions. You are invited to arrive around 5:30 p.m. Everyone orders off the menu and gets a separate check. The dinner menu can be viewed at: http://www.rheinhaustacoma.com/dinner-menu
Come, relax, eat, and join in our conversations. Coordinators are Margot Marsh, and Pat and Neil Glenesk.

Our world is saturated with BS. Learn to detect and defuse it with a condensed version of a course put together by two University of Washington professors, “Calling Bull: Data Reasoning in a Digital World.” They see a critically-thinking electorate and BS detection as “essential to the survival of liberal democracy.” You’ll learn how to spot fake news, how to refute it, and how to filter it out of your information diet. Led by Tahoma UU member, Debbie Cafazzo, an experienced journalist with over three decades of newsroom experience.
SpiritUUality Cafe is an Adult Religious Exploration program exploring different topics on the first Friday of each month, September 2018 through May 2019. Join us for spiritual exploration and discussion every first Friday.
