Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

Forest Bathing anyone?!
Join TUUC Adult Spiritual Explorers for an experiential Forest Bathing at Point Defiance Park! Forest bathing (or shinrin-yoku) has been popular in Japan for decades and is gaining momentum in the US. The practice invites you to fully experience the peaceful, healing, restorative beauty of nature with all of your senses attuned to the present moment. Multiple scientific studies have shown that it lowers stress and blood pressure levels, while increasing immune system functioning, making you more resilient to diseases and illness.
With caring, gentle guidance, and invitation, you will have the opportunity to meditate, walk slowly, pause, contemplate and reflect, and share your experience of mindfully enjoying the Japanese Garden.
Come experience nature in full awe, wonder, and beauty from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7. We will meet at the Japanese Garden Pagoda beginning at 7:45 a.m. and begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and snacks/drinks if they wish.
This Adult Spiritual Exploration event is open to all, and no prior knowledge, preparation, or registration is required.
For more info, contact Doug Taylor, or email Admin@TahomaUU.com.

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

These potluck dining experiences are held several times a year in volunteer host homes and are open to all members and friends of our congregation. Our next one is Saturday, September 28, 2019. Our Get Acquainted Dinners are usually for 6 or 8, held on the same evening at various member’s homes. The host provides a main dish and coordinates side dishes, salads, or desserts provided by the guests. Once the lists of guests and hosts are coordinated, the hosts will contact you with details.
