Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

Join us for 30 minutes of sitting or walking meditation in the sanctuary. Each week we have a topic for discussion related to meditating as a way to expand our knowledge and connect with one another. This group is for everyone, whether you meditate frequently, occasionally, or are coming for your first meditation sit. The group is also open to any ideas or topics anyone may wish to share. Alexa and Steve Arnold facilitate the group.

Join us for our Last Tuesday Dinner Group at a different area restaurant each month on the last Tuesday evening. These meals are casual, come-as-you-please gatherings. It's a wonderful way to get to know fellow members of the congregation, and you may individually order from the restaurant's menu. The restaurant will be announced as we approach the last Tuesday. Come, relax, eat, and join in the conversations.

Come celebrate the birth of the Sun God with Tacoma Pagans on this darkest night of the year. We will sing Pagan carols to celebrate the birth of the Sun, learn from ancient stories, and perform fire magic together. This public sabbat is one of eight seasonal festivals observed by many modern Pagans, and that are celebrated on the solstices, equinoxes, and the cross quarter days between the solstices and equinoxes.
Please arrive on time to be part of the circle. All guests are asked to please bring a dish for the after-feast in the Social Hall. Guests are invited to bring a wrapped white elephant gift that will be exchanged and opened after the ceremony.
Please contact Susie Maharry, Director of Adult Religious Exploration, at dir.are@tahomauu.com for more information.

"Our story begins on a midwinter festival remarkably similar to your Christmas . . ."
Cat and Jim Bilnoski invite you to a showing and discussion of the movie, Hogfather, (2006) in the sanctuary, on Sunday, December 23 from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m.
This dark comedy movie runs approximately three hours. We will have a break in the middle, and the discussion afterwards will focus on archetypes and myths perpetuated in modern society, and if they have value or purpose to humanity. You are welcome to bring your lunch or snacks to share. We’ll have popcorn and hot chocolate.
Sir Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) was a British satirist whose Discworld novels take place in a fantasy parallel universe. Hogfather is a film approved by Terry Pratchett and based on the novel of the same name.
Hogfather does not have an MPAA rating, but the subjects covered and content maturity are appropriate for middle-school and older children.
