Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

Parent Drop-In
Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Parenting and caring for children always presents challenges and it is even more complex as we live through these days of the pandemic. Come, take a break, and connect with other parents (or anyone raising/living with a child) from TUUC. Share strategies for coping, provide support to one another, and sometimes, just have a good laugh. This is an informal group with no agenda other than to be here for each other. The room is open from 7:00 until 8:00. Busy lives mean you can’t always be there right at the start and that is okay. Pop in late if that is what works for you.

We are members and friends of Unitarian Universalism walking the path of spiritual experience and growth as it unfolds in our lives. We come to this safe, caring, authentic, compassionate group for inspiration, to study, and to explore our direct experience of the fullness and mystery of life.
The group is facilitated by Doug Taylor.
This year the group is using the book, Radical Compassion: Learning to Love Yourself and Your World with the Practice of RAIN by Tara Brach.
In this heartfelt and deeply practical book, she offers an antidote: an easy-to-learn four-step meditation that quickly loosens the grip of difficult emotions and limiting beliefs. Each step in the meditation practice (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) is brought to life by memorable stories shared by Tara and her students as they deal with feelings of overwhelm, loss, and self-aversion, with painful relationships, and past trauma--and as they discover step-by-step the sources of love, forgiveness, compassion, and deep wisdom alive within all of us.

Use Your Voice: All About Voting
Sunday, October 18, 2020, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
For Middle School and High School Students
Ages: Middle School and High School
This is the time of year when the upcoming elections are hard to miss! Although most of you are too young to vote in this election, it won’t be all that long before you can register to vote. And there are ways you might get involved even before you reach the voting age of 18. How much do you know about the electoral process in your city, your state, and your country? Our UU Principles highlight the use of the democratic process but just what does that mean? We won’t be discussing specific candidates but we will talk about the importance of voting and how to make informed choices that reflect your interests and values.
We will be joined by special guest, Phil Gardner. While growing up, Phil learned the importance of justice, equality, and compassion in society and started volunteering for political campaigns as a teenager. He ended up working for many years in Congressman Denny Heck’s office and, when Denny Heck announced his retirement, Phil ran for Congress himself! Phil attended TUUC as a child and grew up in our RE Program. He is sure to be inspiring and proof that teens can be involved and can make a difference!
Registration required: Register here.
Leaders: Debbie Cafazzo and Robin Hamman
