Paying Attention: What is in Your Cup?
In a wisdom tale, Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh tells us the bump in the road doesn’t create what spills out of the cup we are carrying. Instead it reveals what is already inside. The question is not about who bumps us rather, “What am I carrying in my cup?”

Join Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration for Children and Youth for a “Kids' Chapel” via Zoom on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. This program is geared for elementary school-aged children and will provide a little time to connect and share with each other. We will still have a Time for All Ages during our online worship service which starts at 10:30 a.m., and encourage children to participate in the worship service through that point.
If you are a parent of a child or children in our Religious Exploration program and have not received the login information, please email Nancy at dir.re@tahomauu.com and she will send you the info.

On Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Linda will be on Zoom with a cup of tea and available for conversation and checking in. Any and everyone is welcome to come along for casual conversation. She'll have a question of the day (for example, "Where did you find joy in the last week?"), but any and everyone can check in and chat as they are most comfortable.
Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes before the meeting start time, so attendees can be invited into the Zoom room. Once the gathering circle has been created for tea time, the Zoom “door” will be closed, and late attendees will not be able to enter. Your timely login allows us the opportunity to create a space for interested participants, and publicly offer this invitation, as well as alleviate concerns about potential mischievous Zoombombers.

An integral part of our annual Holiday Pageant has been the singing of the 12 Days of Christmas (with full congregational participation). We want to create a video featuring congregants of all ages to be shown during the Worship Service on Sunday, December 20 so we can all sing along.
The recording will be made on Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. via Zoom. Sign up to participate in the recording. No singing is required! We will be recording people’s actions, not voices. ALL AGES and ABILITIES are welcome! More than one person can participate from a household (or computer screen) just be sure to register for a slot for each person in the sign-up.
Click here to sign up and receive more information.
If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Slocum, Director of Religious Exploration, at DIR.RE@Tahoma UU.com.

We are members and friends of Unitarian Universalism walking the path of spiritual experience and growth as it unfolds in our lives. We come to this safe, caring, authentic, compassionate group for inspiration, to study, and to explore our direct experience of the fullness and mystery of life.
The group is facilitated by Doug Taylor.
This year the group is using the book, Radical Compassion: Learning to Love Yourself and Your World with the Practice of RAIN by Tara Brach.
In this heartfelt and deeply practical book, she offers an antidote: an easy-to-learn four-step meditation that quickly loosens the grip of difficult emotions and limiting beliefs. Each step in the meditation practice (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) is brought to life by memorable stories shared by Tara and her students as they deal with feelings of overwhelm, loss, and self-aversion, with painful relationships, and past trauma--and as they discover step-by-step the sources of love, forgiveness, compassion, and deep wisdom alive within all of us.

On December 20 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., you can drive by the church to pick up candles for our Christmas Eve service on Zoom. Rev. Linda Hart and Nancy Slocum will be there (masked and shielded) to give you candles for the whole family to take part the service on December 24 at 6:00 p.m. It will be our traditional service with readings and carols, stories, and prayers to celebrate the holiday.
Pick them up in the way that makes the most sense to you -- they can hand them through your window, drop them in the backseat, or the trunk as is most comfortable for you. Please enter the parking lot on S. 56th Street, or on S. L Street parking lot entrance that is furthest away from the building, then drive by the walkway next to the church where Nancy and Linda will offer you some cheer and light.

Parent Drop-In
Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Parenting and caring for children always presents challenges and it is even more complex as we live through these days of the pandemic. Come, take a break, and connect with other parents (or anyone raising/living with a child) from TUUC. Share strategies for coping, provide support to one another, and sometimes, just have a good laugh. This is an informal group with no agenda other than to be here for each other. The room is open from 7:00 until 8:00. Busy lives mean you can’t always be there right at the start and that is okay. Pop in late if that is what works for you.
